Lena Ferriday is a lecturer in the History of Science and the Environment a King’s College London with a special interest in how environments acquired meaning in the past. Her research identifies the period 1840–1914 as a key moment in the construction what came to be known as ‘the environment’ in Devon and Cornwall. Her new project applies this approach to an urban context, with a focus on East London.
