“Convertible SUV” sounds like a horrible idea. It just seems counterintuitive and like a weird juxtaposition of two distinct automotive archetypes, that is until you remember Jeep has been doing it forever. The more I think about it, the more I think going offroad in a luxury car with nothing but open air around sounds like an amazing idea. The new Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible (let’s just call it the Evoque Convertible ffs…) takes the best of Land Rover (rugged luxury) and pairs it with the best of Jeep (open-air adventuring) for something that’s familiar yet completely unique all at the same time. According to Land Rover it’s got all the 4×4 offroad capability and trimmings of their regular lineup with features like permanent all-wheel drive, Hill Descent Control, Terrain Response and Dynamic Stability Control all coming standard. The vast majority of Evoque Convertible owners will likely never fully appreciate the capabilities their vehicle offers, but it’s really, really easy to appreciate driving with the top down.
