As drones become more popular with photographers and travellers, it’s sometimes easy to overlook the practical applications of the technology. From assisting in search and rescue operations to surveying agriculture and real estate, we’re only at the beginning of what’s sure to be an explosion of both consumer and professional applications for drone technology.

That’s not to say there won’t be some hiccups along the way, though. Conservationists at the Living with Cheetahs Volunteer Southern Africa project used a DJI Phantom 2 to gather aerial footage of cheetahs in their natural environment only the cheetahs weren’t exactly welcoming of their airborne observers. As you can see in the video at around the 2:20 mark, the drone pilot had to stick-up pretty quick to avoid that quick left-hook from the angry cat.
