50km southwest of Nassau’s bright lights and busy streets is a remote and mostly uninhabited island that’s been forgotten by time.
Protected by the world’s 3rd largest barrier reef, Andros Island in The Bahamas was once a safe-haven for pirates and smugglers.
According to legend the famous pirate Captain Henry Morgan would hang lanterns on a cliff to fool passing ships, causing them to wreck on the shallow reef.
He then stole their treasure and hid it in a remote island bay, saying there’d be “small hope” anyone would ever find it.
Today, Small Hope Bay is still a haven for adventurers, explorers and treasure hunters in search of more than just gold.
